I have a dream . . .

This is just the right day to talk about the power of a dream.

What does your mind imagine – what is your dream? Are you allowing yourself to have one? How deeply passionate are you about your dream? I’m asking you this because at times I have observed how dispassionate I’ve been about my dreams – had thoughts like “too big, don’t deserve, will never happen.”

Whenever I think small about my dreams, it’s time to stop and remember the power of one man’s dream, Martin Luther King. 50 years ago today a bullet robbed him of his life and us of his leadership. Today, his “I have a dream” speech is being played over and over on the news:

“I have a dream that one day my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.  My Lord, I have a dream.”

These words move me, not just because of their content, but perhaps even more because of the depth of the passion behind the words and the power of his dream.  It is persuasive evidence of the power of one man’s dream.

Although we are still a distance from complete fulfillment of his dream, we have come far from riding in the back of the bus, banning from restaurants and laws against interracial marriage.  Ah – the power of a dream.

I, too, have a dream – a dream that evokes so much passion that talking about it always brings tears to my eyes. Sharing my dream is how I ended my book, “Who’s Pulling My Strings.” If you’ve read it you know my dream – but just in case you haven’t, or you didn’t read it all the way to the end, I want to share my dream with you.

Free At Last

I, too, have a dream.  I have a dream that one day my children and grandchildren, and all people on earth will never again be judged or condemned by themselves as unworthy or unacceptable, or not good enough. I have a dream of a world where all people love and accept themselves and each other, just as the Divine that held the thought that created them loves and accepts them.  I dream of a world where there are no more puppets, and we are all free at last to live our lives with no strings attached.
Oh Lord, I have a dream.

What is your dream?

Are you willing to share it?

My support for you in staying passionate about your dream is yours for the asking.
